It started with an accident on a German navy training ship. The captain was relieved of his duties. Then there was confusion over the circumstances surrounding the death of a soldier in Afghanistan. Both incidents have put pressure on the popular defense minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg. He has promised improvements and wants to completely restructure the Bundeswehr. Once again, Guttenberg has to show he can handle a crisis.
